MARTY & LEAH DULING HOME PAGE

MOTEL VISIT JANUARY 14TH 2012 ARLINGTON HEIGHTS IL

This is a basic home page concerning Duling family genealogy, and the latest family pictures.

I have worked on the Duling family genealogy, and have most of my direct family tree.  My line comes down from William Duling (1748-1839), who came from England and lived near what is now Keyser, W.VA. One of his sons, Collin Campbell Duling (1784-1851), moved to Coshocton County, OH, about 1817, and died there in 1851. One of his sons, William Duling (1805-1858), moved to Owen County, IN in 1850, where one of his sons Elijah Duling (1839-1903) was born. One of Elijah's sons John H. Duling (1881-1918), was my grandfather, who died in the 1918 flu epidemic. John had two sons, Glenn and Martin Albert Duling (1907-1969), my father, who moved to Iowa about 1928. I was born in 1930 in Coon Rapids, IA.  There is an annual Duling reunion each August in Fairmount, Indiana.

I spent 25 years in the U.S. Navy and retired in 1973.  Electronics was my job in the aviation branch of the Navy, and I then worked for a small electronics company in Wheeling, IL from 1973 to 1994. My wife and I retired in 1994 and moved to Versailles, KY for four years and in July 1998 moved to Springfield, IL.  My Navy career included 15 months on Midway Island; 3 years at NAF Lajes in the Azores Islands; one Med cruise on the USS Roosevelt CVA-42 and one on the USS Intrepid CVA-11 (now a museum in New York harbor). Duty stations included: VR-21 Det Midway Island; VR-21 Barbers Point, Hawaii;  NAS Meridian, MS; NATTC Norman, OK; VF-74 NAS Oceana, VA; VR-1 TACAMO at Patuxent River, MD; NAS Glenveiw, IL (two times); VP-44 at Norfolk and Patuxent River, and electronics training several times at NATTC Memphis, TN, Boot Camp in San Diego 1948 and Officer Training Newport, RI in 1960.
